“Minto Held First AGM – June 28, 2022, Check out Presentation“
Minto operates the producing Minto mine located in the Minto Copper Belt, Yukon. The Minto mine has been in operation since 2007 with underground mining commencing in 2014. Since 2007, approximately 500Mlbs of copper have been produced from the Minto mine. The current mine operations are based on underground mining, a process plant to produce high-grade copper, gold and silver concentrate and all supporting infrastructure associated with a remote location in Yukon. The Minto property is located west of the Yukon River, about 20 km WNW of Minto Landing, the latter on the east side of the river, and approximately 250 road-km north of the City of Whitehorse, the capital city of Yukon.
We are currently producing ore from our underground Copper Keel ore body.
Join us for a virtual tour of the Minto mine site and the operations with our General Manager, Brendan Zuidema.
Mining is performed 100% underground using longhole stoping methods
Mined ore is extracted from the mine with 45 tonne haul trucks
Ore is processed through the mill and copper/gold concentrate is extracted
Copper concentrate is shipped to our partner and customer in Japan via Skagway, Alaska
We strive for sustainability in every aspect of our work. From our environmental practices to community initiatives – we aim to create a positive impact that will last for generations to come.
Community involvement is foundational to Minto. We are proud to partner with the Selkirk First Nation and invite young adults from Pelly Crossing to come and learn about mining. We also partner with Yukon University and frequently host on-site student tours. Our goal at Minto is to support the community through education, career opportunities, and local and provincial economic development.
Sustainability is key to Minto’s operations strategy. We aim to minimize the impact of our operational activities by respecting the natural environment and communities in which we operate. We ensure all employees, contractors and visitors take reasonable care for the protection of the natural environment, native resources, and biodiversity.
From the most senior position to the most recent hire, each person plays a critical role in Minto’s success. Here, everyone knows everyone and you’re welcomed in like family. The Yukon mining industry can be hard, but Minto has become a place for people of all backgrounds and experiences to unite and do great work together.
Minto continues to work on optimizing the mine design, improving operating costs, and expanding exploration targets to create a bright and profitable future for our employees, our community, and our stakeholders.
We’re working on extending the mine life by performing definition and step out drilling of known mineralized zones to increase reserves and resources.
We’re exploring new targets in Minto’s large and strategic land package within the Minto Copper Belt.
