Position
We are seeking Long Range Planner for a full-time/regular position. The role will be based at in the Calgary office supporting the Technical Services team at the mine. Travel to site will be at minimum once per quarter, with additional travel for vacation coverage as needed.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have:
- Requires seven (7) plus years of directly related underground Mine Planning and Mine Operations Experience;
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field;
- Professional registration or ability to obtain professional registration is preferred;
- Knowledge and experience with Deswik software experience is a must;
- Ability to develop and foster strong working relationships;
- Ability to work with a diverse cross-cultural workforce;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
Responsibilities
- Work closely within the Engineering team;
- Develop strategic mine plans, including 5-year and Life-of-Mine plans;
- Contribute and assist with Long Range Planning including underground optimization, mine scheduling, technical studies, and asset optimization;
- Assist Short Range Planner to establish, execute, and effectively monitor weekly and 3-month plans as required;
- Actively participate in weekly planning meetings;
- In consultation with the mine team, evaluate methods to optimize ore extraction and mining sequence and prepare trade-off analyses as required;
- Coordinate mine planning work with geology, dewatering, engineering, and mine operations;
- Troubleshoot problems that arise and analyze and recommend solutions;
- Responsible for recognizing mine design and plan inadequacies and recommending and implementing improvements to mine design and plan;
- Analyze data and prepare technical reports to assist in the decision making process;
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures in engineering;
- Contribute to the development of annual budgets;
- Track actual production and compare progress to the long and short range plans;
- Assist with designing and implementing special projects;
- Ensure that engineering design is in accordance to sound engineering practice;
- Maintain a high standard of performance in your duties;
- Be an effective communicator in English (verbal and written) at all levels, including keeping your cross-shift and other team members fully informed at all times
- Participate in site specific training;
- Comply with company standards, as well as Yukon Territory and Canadian federal standards;
- Other duties may be assigned from time to time as required by the Company.
